Questions About Pawning
Will I lose ownership of my pawned items?

Over 90% of our clients redeem their items, however if a customer cannot make a payment and has not notified us well past the due date, his/her items will be forfeited.

Are my items safe and insured while they are in pawn?

YES, we take full responsibility for the items while they are in our possession.  All items are kept in a vault off-premises and are insured.

How long do I have to redeem an item?

All of our contracts last for four months, however at the end of four months you have 2 options.  You can either pay the the interest and other lawful charges and extend the loan period for another four months, or you can pay the amount due and redeem the item up until 4 months after the contract date.

Do I have to leave my item(s) in pawn for 4 months?

No, the item can be taken out and paid for in full at any point before the due date (this will even keep costs down for you).

What if I am late making a payment?

We try very hard to give our customers as much flexibility as possible when it comes to lateness.  If you know you will not be able to pick up an item or make a payment before the 30 day grace period just give the location a call and let them know.

How do I redeem an item?

In order to redeem an item that is currently in pawn, please call the store that you had made the transaction in.  Most locations require 48 hour notice for a pick up.

What should I do if I lost my ticket?

If you lose your ticket and do not know where it is contact the location in which the transaction was made.  Remember, that once you lose your ticket anyone can pay and take out the items.  It is very important you let us know so we can put a stop on the ticket and make sure it is returned to the original owner.

What is the monthly interest charge?

New York State has one of the lowest pawning rates in the country and EZ Pawn Corp is one of the few pawnshops in NYC that only charges a 3% interest rate per month.  As determined by state law the NYS maximum is 4%.  All EZ Pawn Corp locations are licensed and bonded by the NYC Department of Consumer Affairs.  There are also insurance charges and other small permissable fee's that can all be found on your pawn ticket.

Can I pawn my electronics?

No, we do not pawn electronics, however we do offer a special buy-back program if you need a short term loan on an item that is not jewelry. Please call one of our locations or 1-877-4-EZ-PAWN to learn more.

Questions about Buying
What is the difference between selling and pawning an item?

This is actually a very common question.  When you pawn an item you are using your personal merchindise as collateral for a 4 month loan.  The item remains yours, unless it is forfeited or unpaid for several months after the due date.

When selling an item you are transferring ownership from yourself to the business.  In some instances, we will allow a customer the option to buy-back their item at a fee.

What types of items do you buy?

We buy anything from electronics to musical instruments, jewelry and more.  Of course, when buying an item from a consumer the most important aspect is that the item is in good condition and belongs to you.
